Microdermabrasion New York- More than just a facial!
Why
should I get Medical Microdermabrasion?
Patients who receive Microdermabrasion do it for a vast number of reasons
but the number one reason is they want to find the youthful, radiant,
and stunning skin that time and the environment has taken away. After
receiving a Microdermabrasion treatment your skin will look and feel renewed
and refreshed.
The non-surgical cosmetic procedure known as Microdermabrasion is a safe
and highly effective way of lessening the appearance of fine lines and
wrinkles, age spots, and acne scarring. This innovative technique helps
to eliminate the signs of aging while it stimulates the production of
new skin cells and collagen giving you the youthful skin hiding beneath
the surface.
What is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion, or the “Power Peel,” removes the outer
skin layers, those that are marred by age spots, scarring, lines, and
dead skin cells, to reveal the fresher younger looking skin layer beneath.
This procedure in non-invasive and requires no down time following your
procedure.
Using a specially designed hand tool your doctor directs a flow of tiny
crystals to slough off dead skin cells. The hand tool also acts as a vacuum
collecting the dead skin and used crystals. The entire process is fast
and easy- requiring no incisions or injections.
What to know in preparing for a Microdermabrasion
There are no required pre-treatment procedures, your doctor may, however,
give you a few recommendations. Included in these recommendations are
to discontinue the use of topical ointments or creams about five days
before treatment. These products include Retin-A, Differin, and other
glycolic acids. If you smoke you should stop approximately one week before
your session so that you blood circulation to you skin will improve. Patients
are also asked to avoid sunbathing, tanning, and waxing for approximately
two weeks prior. This is to reduce damage to your skin.
Your doctor will also explain to you that patients who receive Microdermabrasion
should avoid receiving other cosmetic treatments for two weeks prior to
treatment. These other cosmetic treatments include chemical peels and
injections. When followed these recommendations help to produce the optimal
results you desire.
What to expect during a Microdermabrasion treatment session.
A Microdermabrasion session begins with a thorough, yet gentle, cleaning
of the treatment area. When completed your doctor will begin the process
by applying the hand-piece connected to the Microdermabrasion machine
to your skin. This will direct the sterile micro-crystals to the target
areas and will gently exfoliate the area. Throughout your session your
doctor will be assessing your skin’s needs and adjust the pressure
to suit those needs.
As the exfoliation process takes place the wand, or hand-piece, will
also be removing the dead skin cells and used crystals. During this process
you will notice a gentle tugging on the skin, this is completely normal.
Your treatment session should last less than an hour and you will be able
to continue with your day uninterrupted. When you leave you will notice
smoother, more refreshed, skin that looks younger and feels great!
